COMMUNITY

Proud Partner of the Children's Inn at NIH

Established in 1990, The Children’s Inn at NIH is a private, nonprofit residence for children and families participating in pediatric research at the National Institutes of Heath Clinical Center. To date, SILVER has contributed more than $20,000 in kind and our guests have contributed more than $7,500 in cash to The Inn. Silver will continue to contribute food to The Inn’s fundraiser events and will give a portion of the annual proceeds from the restaurant to The Inn.

“We are delighted to grow this partnership between Silver and The Children’s Inn,” said SILVER CEO Bob Giaimo.  “After touring The Inn, I knew that the partnership would be a great fit. What The Inn is doing in helping families and sick children is remarkable and truly commendable. So many don’t know that this tremendous place even exists. It needs our support.”

In 1989, Giaimo and his partner Ype Von Hengst opened the first Silver Diner in Rockville, Maryland transforming the traditional diner by introducing local sourcing, antibiotic-free meats, and an extensive selection of Flexitarian choices.

Today, Giaimo and Von Hengst have a nationally recognized, award-winning restaurant brand with 16 locations in the mid-Atlantic region.
